There she goes again

You remember Cindy Sheehan? You know how the media collaborated in giving attention to her publicity stunts far in excess of their relevance?

Well, she doesn't.

But the peace movement in the U.S. remains small. Why?
One thing that has prevented the peace movement in America is the media. I spoke with 5,000 people in North Carolina on March 19, 2005, and the press called the protest "insignificant." They covered the Terri Schiavo case instead.

Yeah, the media sure has been screwing over Cindy Sheehan, hasn't it? Those reporters, so unsympathetic to her goals, so unwilling to accord "significance" to her protests.

I was unable to find any media mention of her March 19 event as "insignificant", but here's the Fayetteville (NC)'s puff piece on the protest. Sure doesn't sound like it's talking about an event that lacks significance.

Moving along:

You feel like you were mistreated by the press?
They got hold of everything I've ever said and scrutinized it so carefully. They never scrutinized what Bush said. No one said, "Why did you lie to the American people and say there was WMD?" The press found an easy target in Iraq, and they found an easy target in me.

I can only assume that by "press" here she means "bloggers", because as far as I know the mainstream media has never highlighted the outrageous comments by Cindy Sheehan. The press didn't find an easy target in her; it found a wonderful figurehead. Need I even bother to dig up a few dozen articles and op-eds lauding Sheehan as the saintly "peace mom?"

Cindy Sheehan thinks that the press was out to get her. Every time I think I'm no longer capable of being amazed by the liberal capacity for self-deception, I'm proven wrong.

Politicalities comments on some fairly deluded remarks by Cindy Sheehan about the media. Maybe she's trying to woo them back now that her fifteen minutes are over. [Read More]

Have you given up on this blog, VoR? When are you returning?

I was wondering that myself- He seems to mainly post on Free Republic these days, documenting outrageously ignorant posts from Democratic Underground for the amusement of the Freepers. The irony I assume is lost on him.

He should come back here!

Wow. It's like he doesn't even give a shit anymore.

Come back VoR we love you.

Maybe he put his balls on the line for the first time in his pasty little life and enlisted... nah.

Sheehan and others like her are in denial of the press's criticism of Bush. I can't think of a day in the last 2 years that I havn't heard some pundit mention that there were no WMD's in Iraq. Rightfully so, we should question the administration and I have no problem with the criticism, but the fantasy land that Sheehan and other Knee-jerk liberals live in debases the entire liberal voice.

Hey - VoR, you need to take this down. I still have you listed as a buddy on my list on S.A. I wish you were back there, man, the forums need you. I've been following your posts on FR, but they've been limited. I assume work is eating up your time.

(Don't you hate corporate America? I mean, the livelihood of it all? I work for Big Pharma, so I can relate. Maybe MS is better than the industry I'm in.)

Anyway, shut this down or keep writing. Do something! I almost submitted a redesign when you requested one long ago. AAAHHH.

Hi Mannequin. Yeah, I realize I haven't updated in... um, yikes, two years. Work is eating up my time, and so are other things, but not MS... I don't work there any more. Jumped ship back in June, swam to Google.

I just haven't been that active in political discussions lately. In addition to FR, I occasionally poke my head in at Conservative Underground and Neutral Underground, but I've been a dilettante... I show up, post vociferously for a few days or weeks, then go away.

I suppose I probably ought to shut this site down (TypePad ain't free), but I can't bring myself to do it, at least not yet. Who knows, maybe I'll get back into blogging one of these days.

By the way, whoever posted "Never" under my name on August 11, 2006, was not me. Whoever it was, not cool... I mean, it's not like this blog is active anymore, but don't make me impose registration or comment moderation. Sheesh.

By the way, whoever posted "never" under my name also happened to be correct. Just wanted to put that down in the record.

This is so common today. Isnt it? The media is concerned about irrelevant things!!
